The Sleeping Bear Birding Trail was asked to coordinate a group of partners in creating a display for the hallway area of the Traverse City Visitor’s Center. The theme is local birding opportunities. With the Trail, the partners are Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy, Saving Birds Thru Habitat, and Grand Traverse Audubon, with support from Grand Traverse Conservation District. The display includes educational information on local birds and birding, plus several free handouts. The display remains through April and May. It represents a growing awareness that NW Michigan offers exceptional birding opportunities and the tourism industry is taking note.
